I, Jennifer Newstead, personally commit to the following:


Personal Commitment

  • I will foster an inclusive environment where all employees, including women and those people traditionally underrepresented in tech, in the legal field, and in the workforce, feel seen, valued, and heard.
  • I will advocate for greater diversity in the legal profession, and drive a culture within the teams I lead, and throughout Meta, that is intentionally inclusive and encourages different perspectives and experiences as a strength within impactful teams.
  • I will strive to create an environment that enables people from all backgrounds to thrive, succeed, and grow in their careers. This includes ensuring equal opportunity for all applicants and employees and identifying and removing potential barriers to equal opportunity.
  • I will invest in professional development for everyone, including groups traditionally underrepresented in tech, in the legal field, and in the workforce. I will encourage meaningful career conversations and ensure there are equal development opportunities for all employees, ensuring access to consistent support and resources to help all members of the Legal team grow.

Organizational Commitment

  • I will actively work to advance Meta’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by continuing to support our company-wide programs, initiatives, and efforts to drive meaningful change.
  • I will encourage a strong partnership with our team’s Diversity Business Partner to help my team support Meta’s mission to build a diverse and inclusive workplace where we can leverage our collective cognitive diversity to build the best products and make the best decisions for the global communities we serve.
  • I will sponsor and support programs and training, including through engagement with Meta’s affinity resource groups, to help us build a stronger, more diverse and inclusive organization. This will include programs that focus on professional development, career growth, and learning opportunities in the diversity space.
  • I will sponsor members of my team to participate in the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder programs, engaging directly with active participants and alumni and identifying ways to enhance their visibility and opportunities within the department.
  • I will encourage my teams to speak at Minority Serving Institutions and to affinity groups at law schools and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to apply to work at Meta and other technology companies. I will support LCLD and other organizations and efforts that work to increase diversity in the legal profession.
